Summary

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The writing really draws you in and the use of poetry makes it stand out from other similar novels。 The ending felt both rushed and inevitable。

I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 The way the author writes, you feel like you are there watching Kya’s life unfold。 It was a hard one to put down。

I listened to this as an audio book, so I was able to have it with me at all times and found myself hanging on to every word, every twist and every turn of the story。 This is a tale of abandonment, prejudice and inequality, spanning the years from the early 1950s to the early 1970s。 The central character has everything pitted against her but against all odds and her own grit and determination to survive she makes a positive impact on the world and the community that once spurned her as different I listened to this as an audio book, so I was able to have it with me at all times and found myself hanging on to every word, every twist and every turn of the story。 This is a tale of abandonment, prejudice and inequality, spanning the years from the early 1950s to the early 1970s。 The central character has everything pitted against her but against all odds and her own grit and determination to survive she makes a positive impact on the world and the community that once spurned her as different。 There is an unexpected twist at the end of the tale which sees a significant object in the story being returned to the natural world, the only world that embraced her for herself and was truly the family for which she yearned。 。。。more

I actually really enjoyed this book。 I loved the storyline。

As many of you, I was excited based on the reviews。 The story is interesting and I have enjoyed it but at time it seemed predictable。。 rushed almost。 Some of her traits and actions didn’t match with those previous which caused some confusion and inability to connect with Kya。 Overall, it’s been good and I don’t regret reading it but I’m not sure it measures to the hype。

Wciągająca historia Dziewczyny z bagien pokazująca okres jej dojrzewania jak i dorosłości。 Dobry wątek kryminalny i miłosny。 Pięć gwiazdek to zdecydowanie za mało。

One night I picked up this book, which my partner owned, and tried to read it。 Within minutes I had fallen into a terrifying sleep, my dreams overflowing with nightmarish swamps and carry on sentences。When I awoke at dawn I felt distinctly unclean, and a little drowsy, which I can only assume was the same state of mind that the author found herself in when she saw fit to publish this postbellum trash。I mourn the trees that were lost in its creation。

Several of my friends had read this and found the first 100 or pages hard to get into。 For me the book spoke to me from the first word。 I found the writing, stunning and I was stung with empathy for the protagonist that kept me wanting to hug her dearly and keep reading。 The ending I felt was lonely and murky and a little hope-less。 Despite this it is soulful and a book I won’t forget quickly xx

Beautiful debut。 My initial thoughts were oh this is going to be thriller, but then it got wrapped up in a love story with nature being at the core。An interesting read。 And kept you on your toes until the very last page

This book is at times a coming-of-age story, a murder mystery, and a twisted romance。 Where it lacks in complex politics and exploration of human nature, it makes up for in visualisation of Mother Nature。 By getting to know the Marshland, we get to know Kya。 She is a complex, reserved, intelligent, creative, independent, and at times perplexing young woman who constantly leaves the reader locked in both empathy and support for her。 I can’t help but love this book, to the point where I couldn’t p This book is at times a coming-of-age story, a murder mystery, and a twisted romance。 Where it lacks in complex politics and exploration of human nature, it makes up for in visualisation of Mother Nature。 By getting to know the Marshland, we get to know Kya。 She is a complex, reserved, intelligent, creative, independent, and at times perplexing young woman who constantly leaves the reader locked in both empathy and support for her。 I can’t help but love this book, to the point where I couldn’t put it down。 I’m looking forward to seeing what Delia Owens writes next。 。。。more

this book is the first mystery that i've read in a while, and i'm surprised i finished it。 i wish owens had given kya more qualities of an isolated person。 to me, she just seems lonely and outcasted by those around her, not really isolated。 this book is the first mystery that i've read in a while, and i'm surprised i finished it。 i wish owens had given kya more qualities of an isolated person。 to me, she just seems lonely and outcasted by those around her, not really isolated。 。。。more

Probably my quickest read so far。The first half of the book was so so excellent and then it just wasn’t。 All in all I enjoyed myself。

I was completely immersed in this story one of the best I had read for a long time。 Sad funny and emotionally draining。 A lesson to us all never to give up on life。

As a fan of a title that hints the story it is about to tell, Where the Crawdads sing is a beautiful portrait of an often misrepresented existence。 Solitude and abandonment interchangeable for freedom and independence。 With touching characters - my favourite being Tate’s father, Scupper - Delia Owens’ novel is full of beautiful comparisons, sceneries and love declarations, with its own dose of plot twists。 A light read that fills your heart a little。

I loved this book。 ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ is a beautiful book about nature, resilience and loneliness。 Kya is abandoned as a young child and has endured so much suffering and rejection throughout her life yet discovers the beauty of nature and makes a home out of the Marsh。 The characters in this book are so likable, the reclusive and misunderstood Kya, the kind and intelligent Tate and of course, Jumpin’ and Mabel。 This book was beautifully written and is hard to put down, the town of Barkle I loved this book。 ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ is a beautiful book about nature, resilience and loneliness。 Kya is abandoned as a young child and has endured so much suffering and rejection throughout her life yet discovers the beauty of nature and makes a home out of the Marsh。 The characters in this book are so likable, the reclusive and misunderstood Kya, the kind and intelligent Tate and of course, Jumpin’ and Mabel。 This book was beautifully written and is hard to put down, the town of Barkley Cove is so brilliantly illustrated and it makes it easy for you to envision Kya’s world。 You ache for Kya and all the misfortunes she has to overcome and you fall in love with the world that she lives in, but most importantly, you root for her。 You want Kya to overcome her obstacles, you want her to make it through。 A five star read。 A book I will always think of time and time again。 。。。more
